So, this is OneDarkSky

Posted by RobbW on September 2, 2011

Well, here we are.  A new beginning and a new chapter in the world of amateur astronomy and public outreach.  Welcome to OneDarkSky.com.  This site is for ALL night sky enthusiasts, not just amateur astronomers, telescope junkies, or sky chart afficianados.  Anyone who has ever looked up at night and marveled at the sight of an inky black sky bejeweled with thousands of bright twinkling stars, this site is for YOU!  We don't care if you have a big, fancy telescope or know all 88 official constellations by heart.  If you love looking at the night sky, then you meet the only qualification needed to join our family!

Here at ODS, we give you the opportunity to interact and socialize with other starry-eyed individuals.  We will strive to inform and educate you about our night skies.  We will enlighten you about the effects of light pollution on our night sky, the environment, and the natural world around us.  We will show you what you can do to help preserve our dark night skies for future generations.  In the coming months, we will continue to add content such as articles written exclusively for ODS and timely posts on what can be seen in our night skies.  We also offer the ODS forums for discussions on just about any night sky topic you can think of.

Look around and explore.  We hope to offer valuable content for everyone, and if there is ever a time you would like to comment or make suggestions for improvements to ODS, feel free to send us a note at SkyTalk@OneDarkSky.com.  Also, while you are here, please take a moment to visit our Supporters page and read about the contributions that have made this site possible.

Thank you!

RobbW
